April 10, 2012~ Mickey was on his way to work traveling west bound on hwy 18 in the early am, and was involved in a terrible end over end rollover accident. As a resault to the accident Mickey was Medevaced directly to HarborView and immediatly rushed into his first of 4 surgerys. During the first surgery Mickey was losing a tremendous amount of blood. He under went serveral transfusions and at that time they had removed part of him lower left lung. Through the surgery they where losing him. The amazing team of surgens at Harborview where able to get Mickey out of the OR for the time being and placed in ICU on Life Support. Between the the first day and now Mickey has under gone three more surgerys. He has had the remaining left lower lobe of his lung removed, four broken vertibraes, Pneumonia, and still remains on Life Support.
At the time of the accident Mickey had only been working at his new job for about a month, just moved out, had NO medical insurance, and only had liability on his now totaled truck. We have put together a fundraiser in little Mickey's name to help do all we can to help him. As this is going to be a very emotionally devastating time for him when he wakes up.
We would like to thank all of his family and freind for all the amazing thoughts and prayers through this time. Mickey is an amazingly strong willed, kindheart, wonderful young man, and deserves the best.

Updates on Mickey~
5/10/12~ Mickey has been out of the hospital now for 1 week & 3 days. He is making progress in his recovery. Since he's been out he has made 1 trip back to HarborView due to a reaction from the tape that we where given for has wound care. They wanted to check to make sure there was no infection caused from this, and there wasn't. He has been on 2 different antibiotics and will continue that until the end of May, 1 pain management, Tylenol, and 4 supplements. Where he had the surgeries from the partial lung removal and drain tubes we have to change his packing and gauze 3x a day. Mickey gets very winded easily, and is now really feeling the broken ribs and back due to tapering off the medicines. Another than that it's one day at a time for him to heal, and as the surgeons keep telling us he's a miracle. He is young and healthy which has defiantly paid off for him.
4/29/12~ Mickey Sr. & I spent a majority of the day today with the doctors and nurses of Harborview preparing for Mickey Jr. to come home. They will be releasing him to us for in home care tomorrow. It's been the worst 3 weeks of our lives, and now the feeling of him coming home tomorrow is the greatest miracle ever! It's going be a long road, but he is an amazingly strong young man. We are very proud of him and how well he is coping with things. We would like to Thank EVERYBODY for all they have been doing for Mickey Jr. it has been so GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! Thank you all, Mickey Sr & Katie Fay
4/24/12 - 4/27/12~ This kid is absolutely amazing, a true winning, and somebody I will forever look up to! It's been 17 days since his horrific accident as he went from fighting for his life, losing more blood than your body supplies, having half a lung removed, several shattered ribs, 4 broken vertebrae's, and not being able to breath on his own. Only 4 days ago did he start breathing on his own, and 3 days ago he got to enjoy his first meal. In the morning it started with Jello, then mash potatoes, and then the nurse came in that evening and asked Mickey if he would like some Lasagna and as he was still struggling with his breaths and talking he says to her "Oh...F*@! YA" (that's are Mickey,Lol)!!! Last night Mickey was finally moved of the 9th floor of ICU down to the 7th floor, and today on day 17 only 4 days after being taken off the ventilator they have removed the oxygen tube from under his nose. Also, today Mickey has walked part way down the hall of the hospital. This has been the most frightening times of our lives, but he is in great spirits. They have given us a potential date of when he will possible be coming home. So, we will continue to keep all of you posted. Thank you again truly from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, care, and support you have shown this amazing young man!
4/23/12~ Mickey has made some great progress today! At about 11:30am they removed the oxygen tube from him for the 2nd time, and it has been a success. He is now breathing on his own with just a little extra oxygen from a tube that runs under his nose. They have taken him off the sedating medicine, and changed some pain medicines and was allergic to one of them; which turned his chest all red and sent him into an anxiety attack. They where able to quickly react. He is able to talk, but it's a bit of a struggle. His mind is clear and is very much the wonderful person he is. He even was saying his please and thank you's to his nurse. They say the next step is to spend the next few days working hard on his breathing therapy so that he can move to another floor in the hospital.
Please continue with all your thoughts and prayers for Mickey, so they do not have to replace the oxygen. The surgeons said if they have to replace it the next time it will not be a tube trough his mouth and down to his lungs. Instead it will be a tracheotomy. We all have faith that he will not have to have the oxygen replaced. Even the team at Harborview is confident he wont. He has shown so much progress. Again thank you all for your support and love for this amazing young man.
4/22/12~Today is pretty much a day of rest for Mickey. At about noon today they preformed another breathing test followed by a blood test to check the oxygen levels in his blood. All when well! So,they are still on the up and up for testing again tomorrow in the am followed by taking tube breath tubes out. They will then put an oxygen mask on him to help with the transition.
4/21/12~All of the drain tubes in Mickey's chest have been removed except for one that is placed on his left lower side where the 4 surgeries where preformed. He has been doing much better with his breathing test. Today (April 21st) he received another blood transfusion to help boost the oxygen levels into his blood. About an hour after doing so they had removed the oxygen tube and placed an oxygen mask on him. He was able to breath on his own with help from the mask for about 2 hours. However, after the 2nd hour he was starting to struggle a bit. So they had to place the oxygen tube back into him. Though they had to replace it they where reassuring that this is not a step backwards, he just needs a bit more time to heal. Mickey's lungs are not strong enough yet to hold oxygen reserves. They will retest him tomorrow & Monday. Also, they had also made mention that they may possibly try to remove the oxygen tube again on Monday.
Mickey is a very strong willed young man. We would like to thank each and every one of you for all the care you have all shown him. Please continue to keep Mickey in your thoughts and prayers.

There has been a fundraiser setup in Mickey's name to help him out. Do to the fact that he has no Medical & only had Liability on his now totaled truck.
